I am a piano teacher, accompanist and festival adjudicator who works with people of all ages to help them discover the benefits of being a student of music. Having started my own musical journey at the age of 5, I understand the good, bad, and ugly of learning to play an instrument at any stage of life. Being a mom of four, with one on the spectrum, I welcome musicians of all abilities and personalities and strive to create an atmosphere of trust and fun!
With a special interest in practice and performance psychology, my goal is to provide creative and positive musical experiences for everyone, from beginners to professionals.
I hold a degree in Music Therapy from Ohio University and alongside teaching, am currently an accompanist for South Lyon’s Millennium Middle School and Walled Lake Schools solo and ensemble events. I’m also an occasional pianist for the Walled Lake Northern High School Jazz Band.
I utilize the Piano Adventures curriculum but focus on providing an individualized approach, customizing materials to meet each student’s needs. Lessons are implemented at developmentally appropriate levels, taking into account the innate skills each person brings to the piano. I care about my students beyond what they learn while sitting on the bench and strive to maintain an environment in which they can challenge themselves and feel free to make mistakes along the way
